At a demonstration site of the UNECE project «Benefits of Nature-based Solutions in Kyrgyzstan» in At-Bashy district, work has begun to restore degraded pastures using wool-based organic fertilizers.
At the second demonstration site of the project «Benefits of Nature-based Solutions in Kyrgyzstan», with the support of UNECE, specialists in At-Bashy district carried out detailed measurements and a comprehensive survey of the area, and began preparing the soil for the application of a wool-based organic fertilizer produced by the local company KANATO LLC.
This nature-based solution aims to restore degraded pastures affected by overgrazing and climate change. The use of wool-based organic fertilizers improves soil condition, increases pasture productivity and resilience to climate change, while helping to reduce erosion, strengthen the fodder base, and actively involve farmers, women, and youth in sustainable pasture management.
