The Association team held working meetings in Toguz-Toro District of Jalal-Abad Region and Ak-Talaa District of Naryn Region under its contract with ARIS on preparing for the certification of sustainable forest management and organic products, implemented within the CS-FOR project.

The Association team held working meetings in Toguz-Toro District of Jalal-Abad Region and Ak-Talaa District of Naryn Region under its contract with ARIS on preparing for the certification of sustainable forest management and organic products, implemented within the CS-FOR project.

The meetings were attended by representatives of pilot forestry enterprises (leskhozes), local self-government bodies, forest users, local communities and other stakeholders.

During the meetings, KAFLU experts presented the main areas of the upcoming work and studied the existing forest management system, practices of using non-timber forest products (NTFPs), interaction between leskhozes and forest users, and current approaches to accounting for and using forest resources.

Particular attention was paid to studying the situation on the ground and consulting with stakeholders; the results will be used for analysis and for further preparing the pilot leskhozes and enterprises for certification.
