On June 30, under the DMSOP project, the first meeting of the Coordination and Management Council for the development of non-timber forest product (NTFP) clusters was held.
The meeting discussed the current status and development prospects of clusters in the Kyrgyz Republic and adopted important decisions aimed at developing the sector.
The main ones include:
— developing a concept for the development of non-timber forest product clusters up to 2035;
— preparing a Roadmap for 2026–2030;
— creating pilot clusters in areas such as walnut, pistachio, almond, wild berries, medicinal plants, honey, and others;
— developing investment projects and infrastructure initiatives;
— creating a partnership platform that brings together government bodies, the business community, academia, international partners, and investors.
These initiatives will contribute to increasing the added value of products, expanding export opportunities, creating new jobs, and the sustainable use of forest resources.
